In James 1:5–8, we are challenged to seek God’s wisdom rather than relying on our own understanding. Pastor Bob explores what it means to continually ask, seek, and knock in prayer, trusting that God generously gives wisdom and direction to those who seek Him. Through Scripture and practical examples, we learn the importance of seeking wisdom through God’s Word, the Holy Spirit, and godly counselors—especially those who are willing to challenge us rather than simply tell us what we want to hear.
Using the picture of being “seasick,” Pastor Bob describes the instability that comes from doubting God and trying to navigate life according to our own wisdom. Instead, faith anchors us in Christ and helps us trust God’s will, even when His answer is “no.” As we continue building the “quilt” of our lives through the book of James, we are encouraged to rely on God’s wisdom so that our lives become a stable, beautiful testimony that honors Him.
